Description
This main floor renovation project focused on improving the functionality of the kitchen and dining room area, which originally suffered from an inefficient layout. Like many older homes in Hamilton, a wall separated the kitchen from the dining room, making the space less practical for daily use. To enhance the flow and usability, the non-loadbearing wall was removed, transforming the area into an open concept kitchen and dining room. Once the wall was eliminated, the kitchen and dining room locations were switched, further optimizing the layout and enhancing the heart of the home.
The design style for this project blended industrial and contemporary influences, with Studio LBD Interiors overseeing the design work. Black accents contrasted with crisp white elements and subtle quartz countertops, resulting in a modern, cohesive look. In the dining room opposite the kitchen, a coffee bar was constructed featuring a bold, dark painted slat wall, open metal shelving, and a moody charcoal countertop.
New warm wide plank hardwood flooring was installed throughout the main floor, complemented by durable charcoal tile in the front foyer and powder room. All windows and exterior doors on the main floor were replaced to improve energy efficiency and ensure the style matched the newly renovated space.
